(5) Water, drainage or steam lines shall not traverse the TELCO
Equipment Room. (A/E Note: For sprinkler lines-refer to Paragraph
8.11.1(d) herein).
(6) Floor loading capacity in the TELCO Equipment Room shall be
sufficient to bear both the distributed and concentrated load of the
provided and planned equipment. The distributed loading shall be at
least 250 lbs/ square ft. and the concentration loading shall be at
least 1,000 lbs/square ft. over the area of greatest stress specified.
(7) The room shall be located away from or protected from sources of
electromagnet interference (EMI) at a distance which will reduce the
special attention to EMI from electrical power supplies, transformers,
heating devices. Special telecommunications systems equipment is not
allowed to occupy or be provided in the Facility's elevator penthouse.
(8) Backboards:
(a) All backboards required by system design shall be constructed of 20
mm (3/4 inches) "fire retardant" plywood.
(b) Backboards shall be provided in sufficient numbers to limit system
interconnection wire and cable length from backboard to the room wire
management system and planned cabinets to satisfy specific OEM
requirements.
(c) Backboards shall be provided so as to allow unobstructed access
from entrance and exit cable ducts, internal room wire management
system, cabinets and doors.
(9) An internal room cable and wire management system shall be provided
so that each systems wire and cable routed between equipment and
cabinets are neat, orderly, secure and in accordance with OEM
instructions. Under no circumstance shall wires and cables be routed
aerial or across the open floor. Refer to Specification Section 16742,
Part Two for specific technical requirements.
(10) Approvals TCD-194D will review and technically approve the
location, size, capacity and internal items of the Equipment Room
during the initial or post contract award of the Contract Drawings.
(11) Grounding
AE Note: Refer to Article 7.12.7 herein for additional information.
(a) External TELCO Equipment Room wire and cable entrance ground-its
connection point shall be located on the outside of the building where
each of the system's external wires enters the TELCO Equipment Room. It
shall be of sufficient size to allow each system wire and cable,
control wire and separate ground wire to each wire and cable entrance
grounding point connected directly to it. It shall be directly
connected to the Facility's earth ground by a MIN mechanically and
electrically protected #2 AWG stranded copper wire. UNDER NO
CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL THIS EXTERNAL LIGHTNING GROUND SYSTEM BE INTERFACED
