3.4.17 ANIMAL WARDS
Provide wall-mounted, weatherproof GFI receptacles mounted 250 mm (10
inches) above counter top at 1200 mm (4 ft.) on center. These
receptacles shall be connected to emergency circuit(s).
3.4.18 RECEPTACLES FOR LASERS IN SURGERY ROOMS
Provide the following facilities with an equipment ground for the three
listed categories of lasers:
(a) Type No. 1 (up to 16A (ampere), single phase, 120 V (volt)): No
special services required. They may be powered from available room
receptacle circuits.
(b) Type No. 2 (from 16 to 60A (ampere), single phase, 208 V (volt)):
A standard 25 kVA isolated power (portable X-ray) system is required,
including one 60A (ampere) receptacle per room. Provide standard
interlocking receptacle feeds for multiple installations.
(c) Type No. 3 (up to 150A (ampere), three phase, any voltage):
Permanently installed and wired unit served from a dedicated,
non-isolated circuit. Plumbing facilities may be required; coordinate
electrical service location with the Plumbing Designer.
3.4.19 CORRIDORS
Provide receptacles for cleaning machines that are no more than 23 m
(75 ft.) apart, except that in corridors of Nursing Units, the
receptacles shall be a maximum of 12 m (40 ft.) apart. These
receptacles shall be on a dedicated circuit serving only corridor
receptacles.
3.4.20 ANESTHETIC AREAS
Refer to "Human Surgery Rooms", Article 3.4.3 and "Animal Surgery
Rooms", Article 3.4.9 in this Chapter and "Special Medical and Alarm
Systems", Chapter 9.
3.4.21 KITCHENS
Receptacles for electric cooking equipment shall be provided as
follows:
(a) Provide appropriate receptacles for each piece of kitchen equipment
that is cord connected. Other equipment shall be permanently wired
using liquid tight flexible conduit. Coordinate requirements with
kitchen equipment list.
(b) Provide receptacles for pieces of equipment located on an island
with an island-mounted, waterproof, floor pedestal type receptacles.
Provide electrical service to all pedestal type receptacles in the
kitchen from the power panel on the kitchen level of the building.
