3.4.12 SELF-ILLUMINATED EMERGENCY RECEPTACLES
In rooms without general illumination on emergency power, emergency
receptacles shall be of the self-illuminated type. Night lights, pilot
lights, and instrument lights are not considered general illumination.
3.4.13 SPECIAL PROCEDURES ROOM - ISOLATED POWER
All Radiology Special Procedures Rooms shall have isolated power for
receptacle and accessory circuits. General lighting and X-ray equipment
shall not be connected to the isolation power panel. Provide a 5 kVA
isolation power panel in each room complete with line isolation
monitor. Locate a minimum of six (Hospital Grade) receptacles
distributed on the walls of each room 450 mm (18 inches) above the
floor. Do not connect more than two receptacles (on different walls) to
each isolated power circuit.
3.4.14 BED MOTOR RECEPTACLES FOR NURSING HOME CARE UNITS
Provide a receptacle for each bed motor in patient bedrooms.
3.4.15 DENTAL MODULE RECEPTACLES AND CONTROL
for selective centralized control of normal power branch circuits.
Switch branch circuits by logical groups of contiguous rooms. One
switch shall control no more than 10 percent of the total Dental Suite
area.
(b) Locate relay panel next to local 120/208 V (Volt) normal power
panel.
(c) Install low voltage wiring in conduit.
(d) Connect low voltage power supply transformers to the critical
branch of the essential electrical system.
(e) Do not switch power circuits that are connected to the critical
branch.
(f) Some normal power circuits shall not be switched by the low voltage
control scheme. These circuits are identified in the Equipment Guide
List.
(g) The dimensional requirements for the location at electrical devices
in dental spaces are illustrated in a series of thirteen (13) details
entitled, "Typical Function Modules for a Veterans Administration
Dental Service." In many instances, precise locations are given to suit
equipment, and these should be dimensioned on project drawings. Hard
copies are available from the Consulting Support Service.
3.4.16 RECEPTACLES AND CIRCUITS FOR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
Research Laboratories - Mount two receptacles above the surface metal
raceway over one of the counters in Research Laboratories. Connect each
of these receptacles to its own dedicated 20 A (ampere), 120 V (volt)
circuit and label "FOR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT."
