ft. x 4 ft.) or other fluorescent type fixture suitable to room
conditions. Control by switch inside corridor door.
6.11.4 VESTIBULE LIGHTING
(a) Fluorescent fixture (2-lamp), 600 mm x 600 mm (2 ft. x 2 ft.) for
single-bed and multi-bed rooms located at entrance to bedroom

6.11.5 SERVICE ALCOVE

6.11.6 BEDROOM LAVATORY (SINK)

(b) Control by switch inside corridor door. Provide 3-way switch near
lavatory when lavatory is more than 3 m (10 ft.) from the corridor door
6.11.7 NIGHT LIGHT
(a) Fluorescent fixture, wall mounted 450 mm (18 inches) above the
floor and located to primarily illuminate the circulation area between
the bed(s) and the toilet or service alcove.
(b) Control locally by switch on the fixture. Control night light
circuit(s) through simple 24-hour master timer in the electrical
closet. Exception: In ICU cubicles, control by wall switch at entrance
to the cubicle and delete switch on the fixture.
(c) Intensive Care Units -Fluorescent fixture, wall mounted 450 mm (18
inches) above the floor and located to illuminate the primary
circulation area of the bed cubicle or Isolation Room. Control by
switch inside the bed cubicle or Isolation Room door.
6.11.8 TOILET/BATHROOM
(a) Fluorescent fixture (2-lamp), 900 mm (3 ft.) or 1200 mm (4 ft.), as
appropriate, wall mounted over mirror. Where bathtub or shower is
included, use a fluorescent fixture (2-lamp), 300 mm x 1200 mm (1 ft. x
4 ft.), 600 mm x 600 mm (2 ft. x 2 ft.) or 600 mm x 1200 mm (2 ft. x 4
ft.) ceiling light in addition to the mirror light. In some cases, a
moisture-proof shower light may also be required.
