(b) Where an existing system is to be extended and competitive
manufacturers cannot meet performance or dimensional requirements
(c) Where required by a public utility or municipal system as a
condition of its services, specifications shall state this condition
1.11 CALCULATIONS
The Engineer shall submit the following calculations to the VA: short
circuit calculations, protective device study, load calculations,
generator-set sizing calculations, voltage drop calculations, lighting
calculations and seismic bracing calculations. The VA reserves the
right to request additional calculations to suit the project.
(a) Short Circuit Calculations: Prepare calculations for all new
projects and renovations to existing electrical distribution systems.
(b) Protective Device Study: Prepare and submit to VA a short circuit
and coordination study to justify the selection of equipment for the
following types of projects:
(1) Large Hospital New Construction
(2) Major Primary Replacements or Modifications
(3) Other Projects, as specifically requested by the VA
(c) Load Calculations: Prepare calculations for all new projects and
renovations to existing Distribution Systems
(d) Generator Set Sizing Calculations: All applicable projects
(e) Lighting Calculations: All projects
(f) Seismic Bracing Calculations: All projects
(g) Voltage Drop Calculations: All projects: Maximum 3percent voltage
drop
