(b) Where fixtures are determined to be reusable in new or existing
ceilings, they shall be taken down, cleaned and re-lamped prior to
reinstallation. An economic analysis of labor costs shall be made for
reuse or replacement of fixtures.
(c) Contractor should be informed of his responsibility in the storage
and re-assembly of reused fixtures regarding damage.
1.15.10 PANELBOARDS
circuit capacity requirements are met.
(b) Panelboards shall be installed in new or existing electrical
closets. Corridor-mounted panel boards shall not be used without
specific instructions. Refer to other articles of this Manual for
closet requirements.
(c) In major secondary distribution renovation projects, existing
panelboard back boxes may be used as pull boxes for branch circuit
transfer. All branch circuit conductors shall be tagged to identify
which circuit number they are being transferred to in the new panel.
Provide a requirement, in the Contract Documents, for the Contractor to
develop and type an accurate Circuit Directory.
(d) Provide in the Contract Documents for the Contractor to balance the
loads during the branch circuit transfer.
1.15.11 GOVERNMENT RETAINED EQUIPMENT
(a) After consulting with the VA Medical Center, determine if the
following items should be retained by government:
(1) Disconnects of 100 A (amperes) Motors and larger
(2) Fire Alarm Devices
(3) Nurse Call System Components
1.15.12 CONCEALED OR EXPOSED
(a) Conceal all work in accordance with VA Design and Construction
Procedures (PG-18-3). Wherever it is physically impractical to conceal
conduits due to economic considerations, the Engineer shall consult
with the VA to determine acceptable alternatives.
(b) All conductors shall be installed in conduit or in surface metal
raceway.
