n. Provide 120v and 240v electrical outlets for the washer and dryer.
o. Ensure all fuel storage meets NFPA 30 requirements.
p. Locate kitchen adjacent to an exterior wall and service ramp/drive.
q. Provide an exterior food and trash service area.
r. Provide child height sinks with drinking fountain for in -room lavatories.
s. Provide temperature controlled hard -surface flooring in 50-70% of child activity space adjacent to wet areas and exits.
This is the area used for hygiene training, arts and crafts, science, water/sand play, eating, etc.
t. Ensure design elements are scaled in accordance with child anthropometric references.
u. Intercom of two -way speaker system between director's office and child activity rooms.
v. Ensure design is in compliance with the life safety code and all applicable NFPA standards.
6. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
a. Site Evaluation
(1) The site should accommodate the building, outdoor playgrounds, vehicular areas (trucks and cars), setbacks, and
open spaces.
(2) It is recognized that some sites or facilities may not be able to accommodate a playground area. Innovative methods of
accomplishment will be required.
(3) Sites near the following hazards and nuisances should be avoided:
(a) Smoke and odors.
(b) Heavy traffic.
(d) Security areas.
(e) Railroads.
(f) Airports (runways).
(h) Areas requiring extensive grading or long utility runs.
(i) Noisy.
(4) Service and delivery access must be separated from public and children's areas.
