specifications, interpretations and technical approvals.
(c) If a VA Master 1600 Series Construction Specification does not
address the specific project requirements or is not available for an
identified system, the A/E is responsible for its development according
to the VA's Master 16000 Series Three Part Format and identified
Operational and Installation Standards. Contact VHA's TCD-194D for
technical assistance and approval in generating official VA
specification numbering of the developed specification for each
project.
7.11 DRAWINGS AND DETAILS
(a) The A/E shall clearly show the exact locations of conduit runs,
cable trays or wireways, equipment cabinets and/or racks,
telecommunications closets/backboards, junction and/or pull boxes, in
ground and/or above ground pedestals or "hand boxes" and manholes on
the project's electrical drawings. The drawings must identify
originating locations of these runs when both originating and
terminating points are not shown on the same drawing.
(b) Drawings must include a detailed riser diagram for all distribution
systems and each subsystem interfaced (i.e. PA, RED, MID, CCTV, Radio
Paging, etc.).
(c) A plot plan of the outside pathway and/or duct bank system
detailing distances between buildings, manholes, in ground or above
ground pedestals or "hand boxes" and the number and size of ducts
(existing, in use and spare) shall be provided.
(d) Use VA Program Guide 7610, Equipment Guide List to complete each
system drawing.

CAD Standard Details and any typical layouts in the
Supplement
to this Manual as approved by TCD-194D for each specific
project to
complete each system and subsystem design.
(f) All construction drawings containing Telecommunication System
equipment and/or Distribution Plants and Equipment Rooms must be
approved by VHA's TCD-194D before the drawings are considered
acceptable for construction.
7.12 HEAD END (HE) EQUIPMENT ROOM
7.12.1 GENERAL
(a) Provide a climatically controlled, secure and protected room in the
Mechanical Penthouse, Building Attic, Building Basement or an area
dictated by System Design. If other than the Attic or Mechanical
Penthouse is used, a separate 150 mm x 150 mm (6 inches X 6 inches)
minimum cable chase /duct or minimum conduit counts, as described
herein, must be provided from the alternate location exiting from the
room backboard and terminating inside an accessible water-proof
enclosure. The room must be designed with adequate space to accommodate
