7.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
(a) All Telecommunications Systems used in VHA Facilities must conform
to VA Master Construction Specifications.
(b) The term "provide" where used herein and in VA Construction
Specifications shall mean the same as "designed, engineered, furnished,
installed, tested, guaranteed and certified" by the A/E and, when
appropriate, the Contractor.
(c) Refer to Article 8.1.1 for additional information.
7.3 WIRES AND CABLES
For all wire and cable installations (A/E Note Follow the general
guidelines outlined in Article 8.2 and VA Master Construction
Specification Section 16742).
7.4 CONDUITS AND INTERCONNECTION BOXES
For system conduits, junction boxes, routing, termination, risers,
horizontal runs, sizing, etc., follow the general guidelines outlined
in Article 8.3 and VA Master Construction Specification Section 16742.
7.5 OPEN WIREWAYS AND CABLE TRAYS
(a) Unless otherwise specified, install all system wiring and cabling
Recognized Testing Laboratories (NTRL) approved telecommunications open
wireways or partitioned cable trays.
(b) Open wireways or partitioned cable trays may contain multiple
Fire Protection Association (NFPA). These combinations must be approved
by (TCD-194D) prior to the system design. The wireways or partitioned
cables as required by various National Codes and shall be NRTL
certified and approved for Telecommunication System functions. Enclosed
wireways or cable trays with hinged covers or conduits are acceptable
alternates to open wireways or partitioned cable trays.
(c) Open wireways or partitioned cable trays may be mounted vertically
as long as they are attached to solid building structures and the
