PROCEDURE FOR COMPUTATION OF BUILDING GROSS AREA
l. The A/E shall submit to the Contracting Officer a report of the gross
area of his design at each of his submissions.
2. The A/E shall prepare the gross area computation as follows: Submit a
small-scale plan of each individual floor. Subdivide each floor into
rectangle with each rectangle designated by a capital letter. List all the
letters on one floor alphabetically. Clearly indicate length and width of
each lettered area and the total square meters (footage) of each lettered
area in tabular form. Show the sum of these areas as the "Designed
Gross Area".
3. Area Computation: (See Attached Diagram)

5. Special Areas To Be Considered:
a. Exterior Stacks and Chimneys
Count free standing masonry stacks only once. Exterior masonry
stacks attached to the building are counted an each floors. Exterior
stacks that are not enclosed in masonry are not counted.
