Interior partition framing shall be metal studs. Other systems
may be acceptable for special requirements (utility spaces may
require special conditions).
13.2
Partitions, where gypsum wallboard is called for, will receive one
layer of 13 mm (1/2") thick gypsum wallboard on each side. See
below for rated partitions.
13.3
Provide fire-rated gypsum wallboard where required. Metal stud
shall terminate at the underside of the structural slab above.
The gypsum wallboard shall terminate at least 100 mm (4") above
ceiling. The following partitions shall be full height to
underside of structural slab with fire-rated gypsum board both
sides:
A.
Fire and smoke partitions;
B.
Duct and pipe shafts;
C.
Stairs and elevator shafts or enclosures.
14.
FINISHES:
14.1
Room Finishes, Door and Hardware Schedule, and should be used as a
guide.
14.2
Combine the finish schedule and color design schedule into one
schedule and include them in the specifications, not on the
drawings. Use the finish schedule format supplied by the VA.
Demolition plans must show the existing finishes. Finish schedule
formats are included in PG-18-14.
15.
BUMPER GUARDS AND CORNER PROTECTIVE GUARDS:
15.1
In all wheeled traffic areas, bumper guards and corner protective
guards are required on both sides of all corridors with walls
constructed of gypsum wall board, veneer plaster, or plaster.
15.2
Provide resilient or corrosion resisting metal corner protective
guards for the external corners of finished interior walls and
columns in the paths of wheeled traffic. Use surface-applied (full
height) resilient type corner guards on gypsum wall board, veneer
plaster, or plaster walls. Use corrosion resisting metal corner
guards on masonry or ceramic tile walls.
15.3
Corner protective guards are not required in corridors where
continuous handrails and bumper guards are used around external
and internal corners.
16.
CEILINGS:
16.1
Provide a reflected ceiling plan at 1:100 (1/8") scale to show the
installation of lights, diffusers, return air grilles, acoustical
tile grids, etc.
16.2
All suspended acoustic tile ceilings shall be 600 by 1200 mm (2 x
4)or 600 x 600 mm (2 x 2) lay-in panels in a standard 25 mm (1")
grid.
CEILING HEIGHTS: Preferred minimum clear ceiling heights from finished

floor to finished ceiling or underside of any obstruction above finished
floor shall be 2700 mm (9'0"). Other heights shall be:
