Structure: Dimensions
On upper floors, the column cross section may be reduced symmetrically
about the column centerline. On the lower floors of eight and nine story
buildings, the column cross section may be increased symmetrically about
the column centerline to a maximum of 36" x 36". This will require
coordination with the plumbing subsystem in that the clear space for pipes
passing between the face of the column and the offset beam will be limited
where beams are 4'6" on center.

Girders
1. Span. The girder span is equal to the structural bay width and is
always 22'6" centerline to centerline of columns. This dimension is
based on a 4'6" dimensional discipline for bedroom widths. (See
Section 230.)
2. Cross-Section. For the same live load conditions, the cross section of
the various girders should not change throughout the height of the
building.
