DISCREPANCIES
554.2.1
Construction Standard 4-2 implies that prestressed concrete construction
should not be used in seismic areas. If applied within the system rules for
the Prototype Design, there is no engineering reason why prestressing
should be used anywhere in the country. Prestressed concrete may in
fact be expected to usually provide the most economical detailed design
solution.
554.2.2
CD-15 implies that concrete floors slabs must either be monolithic or have
a toping slab of 1-1/2 inches. The Prototype Design calls for a three-inch
topping slab to simplify and expedite original construction and particularly
to facilitate adaptability in relocation of items requiring depressions.
