b. The arrangement of the central air handling unit for
ventilation shall be identical to the fan coil units with one
additional requirement. The conditioned ventilation air shall
be responsible for removing the space latent heat gain in
cooling mode. Consequently, the supply air temperature of the
ventilation air will have to adjusted in relation to the
chilled water temperature entering the panels to avoid
In addition, appropriate
overriding control features should also be incorporated in the
c. The minimum ventilation air should not be less than the
manufacturer's recommendations.
d. The radiant ceiling panels should not be used in areas with
excessive internal latent heat gain. Example: Conference Rooms.
3.4 TEMPERATURE CONTROL CRITERIA
The temperature controls shall be direct digital (DDC) type with
either electric or pneumatic operators for the control valves, air
terminal units, and control dampers.
The controls shall be
standalone type. A dedicated engineering control center (ECC) shall
be provided to facilitate remote start/stop. Alternately, if feasible
technically and contractually, the controls shall be connected to the
existing ECC at the medical center.
A. ROOM TEMPERATURE CONTROLS:
1. The room thermostats shall have an adjustable dead band (6oF) to
reduce the use of the heating and cooling energy.
2. Except where the use of reheat is permitted to maintain room
temperature, the control system shall be designed to eliminate
simultaneous use of heating and cooling energy.
3. Individual Room Temperature Control:
For the following spaces,
individual room temperature control shall be provided.
a. All bedrooms in domiciliary and nursing units.
b. All conference rooms.
c. Offices of directors, assistant directors, and chiefs.
d. All corridors.
4. Combined Room Temperature Control: The following spaces can be
grouped as one temperature control zone.
a. Exterior (other than corner) office spaces located on the same
exposure. As many as four rooms can be grouped together as one
temperature control zone.
