SCREENS:
13.1
WINDOW SCREENS: Provide insect screens only on operable windows
in spaces which are not air conditioned.
13.2
VENTILATION SYSTEM SCREENS: Provide bird screens on mechanical
ventilation system air supply and exhaust openings in exterior
walls. Provide insect screens on the inside of wall openings and
louvered openings in exterior walls where there are no duct
connections.
14.
SHADES, BLINDS, DRAPERIES, AND CURTAINS:
14.1
Shades, blinds, draperies, and curtains are not part of the
construction contract, except for integral venetian blinds. See
"Exterior Windows" above.
14.2
The construction of window heads shall include a wood plate,
board, or trim piece above the head designed to accommodate the
attachment of window treatment that may be installed by the
medical center after completion of the building construction.
15.
PARTITIONS:
15.1
For general interior partition framing use 100 mm (4 inch) metal
studs. Certain recessed electrical panels outside of electrical
closets may require walls thicker than usual; coordinate with
project electrical engineer. For walls with piping and other
special requirements, use other sizes or systems as appropriate.
15.2
Coordinate with structural engineer for design of partitions
supporting wall-hung equipment, and for wind-load design of
exterior walls.
15.3
Use 16 mm (5/8") thick type-x gypsum wallboard for partitions,
except for special conditions.
15.4
Extend all layers of gypsum board, on both sides of studs, from
floor to underside of structure above on the following partitions:
a.
Fire rated partitions
b.
Smoke barriers
c.
Sound rated partitions
d.
Corridor partitions in non-sprinkled buildings
15.5
Extend one layer of gypsum board from floor to underside of
structure above on corridor partitions in sprinklered buildings.
15.6
In other locations, extend gypsum board from floor to heights as
follows:
a.
Not less than 100 mm (4 inches) above suspended acoustical
ceilings
b.
At ceiling of suspended gypsum board or plaster ceilings
c.
At existing ceilings
16.
FINISHES:
16.1
Room Finishes, Door and Hardware Schedule. The project management
team must review any deviation from this document prior to start
of construction document phase.
