NEW VA ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SPECIFICATIONS
ISSUE:
Replacement of outdated VA master specification Section 01569 dated 11-95 on
Asbestos Abatement.
BACKGROUND:
Master Specification Section 01569 dated 11-95 has been replaced with three
new independent sections:
1. Section 01569 `Traditional Asbestos Abatement' dated 07-99
2. Section 01570 `Glovebag Asbestos Abatement' dated 08-99
3. Section 01571 `Asbestos Floor Tile and Mastic Abatement' dated 08-99
An Industrial Hygienist Consultant retained by Office of Facilities Management
(OFM) developed these sections, which complies with latest OSHA regulations,
and VA's DASHO directive 7700.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Use updated sections on new projects. They can be accessed at OFM's
Technical Information Library at Web site:
