This space is required both if the medical center is provided with complete piped-
in medical gas systems, and if complete system is not available, for storage of
cylinders.

Minimum NSF. Provide an additional 50 NSF if over 350 total beds.
6. Storage, General and Medical (XXXXX) ......................... 1000 NSF (92.9 NSM)
Minimum NSF, or total medical, surgical and spinal cord injury patient beds
x 10 NSF, plus total Psychiatric, Nursing Home and Domicillary beds x 4 NSF,
plus total annual outpatient visits x .02 NSF, whichever is greater. If 12' stacking
height not projected add 2 NSF x total patient beds.
Area assumes ceiling height of 15' allowing for 12' stacking height.
7. Storage, Medical Research (XXXXX) ............................... 200 NSF (18.6 NSM)
Minimum NSF, or 0.2 x total Storage General and Medical, and if Medical
Research Program is in Concept of Operations.
8. Storage, Equipment (XXXXX) ........................................... 200 NSF (18.6 NSM)
Minimum NSF, or 0.2 x total Storage General and Medical Provide one if in the
Concept of Operations

patient beds greater than two hundred.

Provide area based on the quantity of materials determined in the Concept of

C. Staff Lockers, Lounges and Toilets
The spaces below provide programming of Lounge, Lockers, and Toilets at
department/service/chapter level. Alternatively, sum all departments/services data for
Lockers, Lounges and Toilets, and program space in Chapter 410-EMS Lockers,
Lounges, Toilets and Showers. Either/or do not duplicate space.
Lounge, Staff (SL001) ................................................................... 80 NSF (7.5 NSM)
Minimum NSF for five FTE, or 15 NSF per each FTE position authorized greater
than five. Maximum 210 NSF.
For less than five FTE combine Lounge facilities with adjacent department or sum
in Chapter 410.
